History of the Group

The history of the 11th Gloucester (Hucclecote) Scout Group is a bit sketchy, however from our research we have discovered the following information:


  • 1912 – Gloucester Scout Association return: First mention of a Scout Troop in Hucclecote
  • 1916 – Gloucester Scout Association return: First mention of 11th Hucclecote (30 scouts)
  • 1925 – Troop registration of 6th Gloucester (Hucclecote) (17 scouts)
  • 1926 – Troop registration of 11th Gloucester (Barnwood) (10 cubs)
  • 1928 – Group registration of 11th Gloucester (Barnwood) (7 cubs, 16 scouts)
  • 1928 – Troop registration of 6th Gloucester (Hucclecote) replaced by Group Registration of 6th Gloucester (Hucclecote) (23 scouts). We can only assume it existed beyond this.
  • 1931 – Cancellation of 11th Gloucester (Barnwood)
  • 1936 – Group registration of 11th Gloucester (Barnwood Parish Church) (14 scouts).
  • 1948 – Cancellation of 11th Gloucester (Barnwood Parish Church)
  • 1949 – Group registration of 11th Gloucester (Barnwood Church) (22 cubs, 10 scouts)
  • 1974 – Registration of a change of name from 11th Gloucester (Barnwood) to 11th Gloucester (Hucclecote)
